The Box Factory
The Brief
The Box Factory are one of the largest independently owned, high volume manufacturers of FSC® certified corrugated cardboard packaging in the UK.
They had a requirement to gradually implement an EV charging infrastructure across their premises in Leamington Spa, ensuring they can support their EV driving staff and transition to an EV fleet to improve their carbon footprint as we collectively work towards Net Zero 2050 in the UK.

The Solution
FM Services Group Ltd (t/a EV Planet) were awarded the tender following our site-survey and consultation in which their requirements were analysed.
We tasked our diversly skilled and experienced team with the electrical and technological design of the EV charging infrastructure, ensuring it met Box Factory’s social, environmental, governance, and technological goals, while also ensuring they were future proofed to support their staff and transition to an EV and hybrid fleet.
The proposed solution amounted to a total AC power output of 154kW’s across two sites. Providing them the capability to substantially reduce their fuel expenses and C02 emissions.

Works Overview
The works consisted of installing 4 chargepoints in the main parking area and the overflow car park. In order to avoid disruption and downtime, we liaised closely with the customer to ensure the chargepoints were installed in an efficient manner tailored around their peak manufacturing and warehousing hours.
Tailored to Box Factory’s requirements, the installation was carried out in 2 phases; commencing with their main parking area in 2021, followed by the installation of additional chargepoints in their overflow car park in 2022.

The chargepoints supplied to the main parking area in 2021 were non-PME. Against traditional earth rods we installed a separate earthing system utilising an American product called ConducDisc, providing far better earth resistance readings way within the requirements set out by the IET.
On completion of both installations, our technology team proceeded to programme all chargepoints to operate on their preferred charging mode, utilising RFID functionalities.

The Results
Permitted Box Factory to support their EV driving staff and have an uptake of EV’s in their fleet.
Improved Box Factory’s carbon footprint.
Contributed to Net Zero 2050 Goal.
