Open Doors
The Brief
They had a requirement to implement an EV charging infrastructure at their headquarters in Oxford, ensuring they can support their EV driving staff and transition to an EV fleet and improve their carbon footprint as we collectively work towards Net Zero 2050 in the UK.
The Solution
FM Services Group Ltd (t/a EV Planet) were awarded the tender following our site-survey and consultation in which their requirements were analysed
We tasked our diversly skilled and experienced team with the electrical and technological design of the EV charging infrastructure, ensuring it met Open Doors social, environmental, governance, and technological goals, while ensuring they were future proofed to support their staff and transition to an EV and hybrid fleet.
The proposed solution amounted to a total AC power output of 88kW’s at their headquarters. Providing them the capability to substantially reduce their fuel expenses and C02 emissions.
Works Overview
To increase productivity and reduce downtime, the installation was carried out in phases; commencing with the civils, followed by the implementation of the electrical infrastructure, and concluded by termination, testing, and handover of all chargepoints.
Challenges were faced due to the cable route and insufficient capabilities from existing equipment. In order to support the charging infrastructure there was a requirement to install an external kiosk isolating the chargepoints from the main distribution board. We conducted all works to anchor the kiosk and wired the chargepoints to an isolated renewable distribution board, ensuring the chargepoints can be serviced efficiently.
The Results
Permitted Open Doors to support their EV driving staff and have an uptake of EV's in their fleet.
Improved Open Doors carbon footprint at their headquarters.
Contributed to Net Zero 2050 Goal.
